Fox News host Jesse Watters mocked California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) for being too feminine while discussing potential Democratic nominees for the 2028 presidential race.

On the roundtable opinion show “The Five,” Watters was speaking with his co-hosts about a report in Axios that some top Democrats are considering whether the party needs a straight, white, Christian man as its frontrunner to win, after two women candidates have now lost.

Watters responded, “Fine, run Gavin Newsom. This is what this is about. They are struggling how to come to grips with running a straight white male.”

He then began to rant about Newsom’s gender.

“Gavin is, how do I say this, he’s kind of like a woman trapped in a man’s body,” Watters said, making himself laugh. “You could probably convince the base that Gavin is a woman. He changes his mind a lot, he’s always in the mirror, he’s always crying, he’s crossing his legs constantly. I think they could buy that.”

Watters has a long history of mocking men for being feminine for bizarre reasons, like drinking out of straws or eating an ice cream cone.

In 2024, he ranted about then-President Joe Biden eating ice cream in public, which is apparently something a real manly man would never do. “This ice cream,” Watters said. “It’s just not a good look.”

“You should save that for vacation. A grown man – especially the president – should not be licking ice cream in public.”

Also in 2024, he mocked Minnesota Gov. and then-Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz (D) for using a straw.

“The other day you saw him with a vanilla ice cream shake. Had a straw in it. Again, that tells you everything,” Watters said.

He also mocked Biden for using a straw in 2023, saying, “Some things we just can’t let slide.”

“I recommend that all men refrain from using straws,” he continued. “It’s unbecoming, the way a man’s lips purse, the size of the straws is too dainty, the way your fingers clasp on it, no, come on.”

Many on social media slammed Watters for misogyny, for thinking he is the arbiter of masculinity, and also for hypocrisy by claiming in all other scenarios that gender is biological, rather than behavior-based.
