GOP lawmaker pushing bill to imprison drag queens accused of misconduct with minor relative

Drag queen Nina West is calling out an Ohio Republican for a bill that would send drag queens and trans people to prison, despite the fact that he was accused of touching a “minor relative” multiple times and climbing into her bed only wearing his underwear with an erection.

According to some sources, that “minor relative” is his own daughter.

Nina West was forced into hiding after homophobic attacks. She’s still standing up to haters.

According to NBC4i, the minor said that Ohio Republican state Rep. Rodney Creech, the cosponsor of the bill, rubbed her leg and grabbed her waist. She said she was “put to tears” because she was so upset.

Creech was stripped of his committee assignments following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor family member last year. Former Republican sheriff and current state Rep. Phil Plummer (R) was interviewed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation since he talked to Creech shortly after the accusations were made. He said that Creech’s comments in a private conversation defending himself over the charges were “disgusting, uncalled for, and appalling.”

Creech defended himself by citing Donald Trump as an example.

“Like President Trump, I am no stranger to false media attacks. This will not deter my important work,” he said in a statement reported by Cleveland.com.

On social media, Creech said that the accusations were “false” and “political,” an attempt to derail his state senate campaign.

Creech’s work right now includes passing Ohio House Bill 249, which would send drag queens and trans people to prison if they kissed in front of a 12-year-old, one of many draconian proposals in the bill.

Lawmakers were upfront that the new drag ban law is “Jim Crow” for trans people.

“Every statute known to man can be misappropriated by a law enforcement officer,” Republican state Rep. Josh Williams, an outspoken opponent of people who are gender nonconforming, admitted in a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee. “We saw that time and time again during Jim Crow.”

Now, Ohio Republicans are repeating that history, with a law that would send drag queens and trans people to prison for 18 months on a felony charge for “obscene” acts committed in front of a minor under 13, among other provisions. That includes kissing.

The law is so vaguely written that law enforcement and prosecutors could easily shut down drag brunches, drag queen reading hours, Pride parades, and any other public expression of gender nonconformity — and arrest violators in the process — according to Dwayne Steward, CEO and executive director of Equality Ohio.

“It really would allow for any jurisdiction in the state to decide that drag or a trans person expressing themselves in public is illegal,” Steward told Fox News.

“Drag is not a crime,” Nina West, who is also a RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, said in testimony at the Ohio Statehouse against the bill, known as the Indecent Exposure Modernization Act, according to Ohio Capital Journal.

“I’m an entertainer who’s proudly worked with incredible companies like Disney,” West said. “I’ve written a children’s book. I have released a children’s album. I have done library readings.”

“Drag is something that gives people agency and hope, and it makes them feel seen, which is important; it’s important to tell people that they matter,” she added.

“We’re providing validity to people’s existence and I think that’s important and valuable.”

On Monday, West once again pointed out Republicans’ ritual hypocrisy in their culture war attacks, with her post to Insta highlighting the accusations against Creech.
