Outright Vermont to host final annual fire-truck pull in Burlington, Sept. 27
September 19 2025, 08:15

Outright Vermont will host its final annual Fire Truck Pull, a “peer-to-peer fundraiser and street party, that raises money to support LGBTQ+ youth across Vermont,” in Burlington, Vt. on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Reports USA Today:

[At the annual event, known as “The Pull,”] teams in colorful costumes compete to pull a fully loaded fire truck up the block while the crowd cheers them on. The fundraiser, which also features music, ice cream and dancing, is set to take place at 3 p.m. on Church Street.

This year marks the end of the Fire Truck Pull tradition as Outright shifts its focus to year-round youth programs and advocacy, the organization says. The nonprofit plans to put its energy toward programs at Camp Sunrise, a 146-acre lakefront parcel in Addison and Rutland counties that it purchased last year.

The campgrounds will be a permanent home to the org’s popular Camp Outright, an overnight summer camp aimed at LGBTQ+ young people.

“This is our last-ever Fire Truck Pull — so it’s the perfect time to join in and show up for LGBTQ+ youth,” the organization told USA Today. “Together, we will raise $200,000 to bring more empowerment and joy to youth in Vermont and beyond.”

Volunteers are needed from morning to early afternoon to help with setup, safety, outreach and event activities. Those interested can fill out a volunteer form.

Participation in the event doesn’t require pulling the truck. Supporters can also form or join a fundraising team, donate to a team or team member, and/or attend the event to cheer and celebrate.
