Onlookers jeered and heckled anti-LGBTQ+ Vice President J.D. Vance while he entered D.C.’s main transportation hub, Union Station, on Wednesday to greet National Guard troops. A video shows hecklers calling Vance a “couch f**ker” and telling him to “Go f**k a couch,” a reference to an untrue viral claim from 2024.

Vance entered the station and proceeded to Shake Shack, where he shared burgers with the arriving troops. Red state governors have sent the troops into D.C. — a district with a large Black and Democratic population — after the president promised to crack down on crime in the city, following the assault of Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old administration member nicknamed “Big Balls.” The violent crime rate in Washington, D.C. reached a 30-year low in 2024.

JD Vance joined Bluesky & posted an anti-trans message. Users immediately paid him back.

Vance seemingly didn’t react to the jeers, but numerous D.C. residents have been angered by the president’s militarization of the district. The militarized presence has also harmed LGBTQ+ nightlife in the district.
