A Republican congressmember called one of his gay colleagues a “drama queen” for demanding the release of the Epstein files.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the chair of the House Oversight Committee, was talking to reporters about the Epstein documents that were released earlier this week, which include a birthday card the president sent to convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

“The Democrats, they find one thing in there and they promote it and try to get a narrative,” Comer said, possibly referring to the birthday card. “This investigation is about providing justice and accountability for the victims, and the Democrats, you know, it’s really disappointing to see how they’ve acted.”
Then Comer decided to attack out Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) unprompted.

“Garcia, he’s been on the job for about two weeks,” Comer said, referring to how Garcia was recently made ranking member of the House Oversight Committee. “He’s proven to me to just be a real big drama queen.”
“Because this is all about providing transparency to the American people and justice for the victims. It’s not about scoring political points. Hopefully he’ll mature up and get serious about the investigation.”

Garcia has been outspoken in trying to get the Epstein files made public and has been calling out the White House for orchestrating “a huge cover-up” of government files detailing investigations into the high-profile accomplices of Epstein.
Last week, the House Oversight Committee released more than 33,000 Department of Justice (DOJ) documents on Epstein. However, Garcia and other Democrats quickly criticized the release, noting that 97% of the files were already public. Garcia dismissed the disclosure as “a joke.”
“Very little is new,” Rep. Garcia said in an interview with MSNBC. “There is a massive White House cover-up going on right now.”
“I think that we’re at the point now where the president is so obsessed with calling this a hoax that, we, the American public, I think now deserve some answers,” Garcia said in an interview last week with The Contrarian.
Garcia discussed Republicans’ denial that the president signed the Epstein birthday card, despite members of his family saying that he did on MSNBC.
“The reality is that they are bold-faced lying,” Garcia said.
