In the wake of the murder of MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk, the grieving father of a girl who was killed in a 2018 school shooting is begging the president to finally advocate for gun control measures.

On social media, anti-gun violence activist Fred Guttenberg spoke directly to Donald Trump. “I saw your confirmation that Charlie Kirk, someone who you loved, has died,” he wrote. “During your first term, someone I loved, was murdered. My daughter Jaime was killed in the Parkland shooting. I had hoped to work with your administration then to reduce gun violence. I am sorry for your loss today. I would still love to work with you to stop the next one.”

In the aftermath of his daughter’s death, Guttenberg slammed Trump for refusing to acknowledge that guns are the problem, saying he was “enraged” and wanted politicians “to look me in the eye and acknowledge the role that guns played in the hunting of my daughter.”

Kirk died after he was shot in the neck at a live event on Wednesday. The shooter remains at large. His murder has led many to emphasize that gun violence should not be a partisan issue and that everyone is at risk when the nation lacks commonsense gun regulations.
