With the president saying that he may attempt to run for a third term as president — despite the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution limiting presidents to two terms — a reporter decided to ask a Supreme Court justice whether she thinks it will be legal for him to do so.

Her answer has people worried.

“The 22nd amendment says you can only run for office for two terms,” Fox News’ Brett Baier asked Justice Amy Coney-Barrett.

“True,” she responded.

“You think that’s cut-and-dry?” he asked.

“Well, you know,” she started to respond, adding in a tone that made it sound like she was choosing her words carefully: “That’s what the amendment says.”

People online found her answer to be less than reassuring that the Supreme Court would block the president from seeking a third term. Some people implied that Barack Obama should also seek a third term as a response.
