Nyla Rose has made history as the first out trans pro wrestler to hold an all-women’s top title in the UK for Pro Wrestling: EVE.
The former All Elite Wrestling Women’s World champion made LGBTQ+ history for the promoter at the Pro Wrestling EVE championship, “EVE x The World” event on Saturday (23 August). After going up against former champion Nightshade, Rose was crowned the new Pro Wrestling EVE champion.
Rose’s win marks the first out trans woman and fifth out LGBTQ+ pro-wrestler to hold the title for the all-women’s UK-based promotion. She follows in the footsteps of fellow LGBTQ+ wrestling athletes Charlie Morgan, Jetta, Piper Niven, and Safire Reed, who also won the title.
Rose is also one of three out trans pro wrestlers to hold a championship title in a major British pro wrestling promotion, alongside Gisele Shaw and Commander Sterling.
Rose went up against Nightshade, the defending EVE Champion, during the match. The pair each scored near-falls, but Rose managed to reverse one of Nightshade’s attempted Vader Bombs (Big Van Vader’s signature move).
Although Rose did not secure a three-count with her reversal, she did top it off with a Swanton Bomb from the top rope, which cemented the pinfall, as counted by AEW referee Aubrey Edwards.
Following Rose’s win, Nightshade posted on X on Sunday (24 August), thanking her opponent for the opportunity.
I absolutely know you will! Already one of my toughest opponent to date! Hold your head high queen, you’re an amazing champion @ProWrestlingEVE is lucky to have you! When you’re ready to dance again, I’ll be waiting
